Bouldin Creek Home Addition

Home Addition Adds Outdoor Living

Setting

A beautifully maintained 80-year-old home in the Bouldin neighborhood in central Austin

Goals

  • Add a backyard outdoor living space

  • Accommodate visits from disabled friends and colleagues

  • Add a new garage

Process

A new screened porch was added to the back of the house, behind the kitchen. A butterfly roof gives the porch height, light, and a feeling of spaciousness, and it allows light into the kitchen windows. A new garage was designed to match the house. An ADA-compliant ramp now connects to the front porch for visitors.

RESULT

The new additions tie nicely into the property and look as if they’ve always been there.

Bonus

A little free library, styled to match the house, is now a neighborhood favorite gathering place.

Homeowner testimonial

I'm a fussy client and I have nothing but great things to say about Wayne, Chris, and Debra! We hired them to do a large screen porch, a new garage, and an accessible ramp. They had the patience to work with me in developing a plan that included lots of special (but affordable) features that made all the difference. They listened well but also brought new ideas for us to consider. My partner is now working with them again to renovate a new business location. We feel so fortunate to have found such a great team!
