Some things to know about Solluna Builders

We have a practical, no-nonsense, hands-on approach.

We think life is short, so we’re doing what we enjoy.

One thing we really enjoy is working with our clients.

What to expect when you work with Solluna Builders

Call us early. It’s always a good idea to involve your builder in your project as early as possible. And that’s especially true when you’re building green, because we’re not just slapping up any ol’ house here. We’re building you a high-efficiency, high-quality, healthy home.

It’s the careful integration of design, materials, construction techniques, and mindfulness that produces a comfortable, efficient, durable home that will stand up to the test of time.

We have many questions for you. During the discovery process, we’ll ply you with questions while you define and clarify your requirements. We take a close look at factors centered around your family's needs, your building site, the surrounding property, and your budget.

Design, design, design. Good design gets you the pleasant, efficient, comfortable home you want, tailored specifically for you. Good design is paramount, because we just can’t “green” a bad design.

If you don’t already have plans, bring us an idea and tell us your budget: We work closely with top-notch architects and designers, and we can match you up with professionals whose sensibilities and style are a good fit for your project.

Pre-construction planning. You set the budget. We’ll mind it for you. You will always face tradeoffs to keep construction costs within your budget, so we’ll huddle together and make as many decisions up-front as possible. Careful, thorough pre-construction planning saves you money.

Construction management. Building a home is complex and involves many layers, many players, and many details. Skilled trades contractors. Suppliers, materials, and components. Schedules, deliveries, checkpoints, handoffs. Permits, codes, standards, and ratings.

We’ve honed and streamlined our tools and management practices to keep projects moving swiftly and smoothly, forestalling delays and keeping costs in check.

Our team. Our loyal cadre of professional trades contractors are the best – foundation, framing, roofing, electrical, plumbing, and more.

Like us, they’re very picky, they believe in quality, and they deliver outstanding workmanship. Savvy and experienced, they work closely with us and with each other to coordinate the work and make it run seamlessly.

Minding the resources. As a green builder, we’re serious about using resources wisely. It shows up in the way we order materials – just enough and no more. In the optimal framing techniques we use. In the way we sort and recycle construction materials. In the way we champion the use of recycled and reclaimed materials and components.

We keep your job site clean. But you won’t see a dumpster on our construction sites, because they only encourage waste -- instead, we set up recycle stations and demand that everybody use them. We walk your lot and grow intimate with the terrain and the trees. We work hard to minimize the impact on the landscape and the neighborhood.

We make sure your home is properly oriented to the sun. We’re staunch believers in water conservation and water-wise landscaping and can help you solve drainage and water-use problems with practical, down-to-earth solutions.

Communication. During construction? Okay, we'll confess. We're fixated on details, and we tend to over-communicate with our clients. But only because we like things to be done right. We want to make sure you're informed about what's going on at every step. We really enjoy establishing a good working relationship with our clients because we're not just building a house, we're building your home.

We know that building or remodeling a home is often an emotional investment, plus it's likely the single biggest personal purchase you'll ever make. Want to rest easy knowing it's done right?
