Green Building Case Studies - Green building does not succeed in a vacuum. The interaction between builders, the community, suppliers, government, contractors, and others is crucial but often complex and uncharted. Finding out how others have discovered and addressed these issues can provide valuable insight. The AE Green Building seminar on case studies is intended to provide these perspectives. Commercial, multifamily and single family projects will be highlighted and the presenters will share their experiences with emphasis on how green building has impacted their methods.

Commercial Case Study Presenter: Dylan Siegler, Associate Principal, Center for Maximum Potential Building Systems Ms. Siegler is engaged in a broad spectrum of sustainable design and LEED consultancies, including a new Department of Veterans Affairs hospital in New Orleans; the new Austin Federal Courthouse; and the 1-million square foot Block 21 mixed-use project in downtown Austin, including W Hotel and Residences and Austin City Limits studio and concert venue. She provided LEED consulting services on the Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas and the Ronald McDonald House of Central Texas which are the first two LEED-NC Platinum certified projects in Central Texas. Multifamily Case Study Presenter: Stuart Hersh, Consultant, Stuart Hersh Consulting Mr. Hersh worked for Building Inspections for over 20 years, drafting code amendments and interpretations as the department manager and was part of the team that drafted Austin’s first land development code and later S.M.A.R.T. Housing policy. For the past two years, Stuart has worked with the Mary Lee Community and other not-for-profits on housing affordability, Green Building, and code compliance. He is the project manager for The Willows, Austin’s first fully accessible apartment complex that will serve renters who may earn as little at $700 a month.
